We are seeking a seasoned Embedded Software & Firmware Engineering Manager to lead the software development team and all the activities for our next-generation Automated Test Equipment (ATE) platforms. The ideal candidate has at least 10 years of experience in embedded systems development and is ready to take ownership of software architecture, team leadership, and cross-functional technical coordination. This is a strategic and highly impactful role, responsible for driving innovation, ensuring product quality, and supporting the full lifecycle of embedded software development — from platform definition to release and industrialization.
Key Responsibilities: Leadership & Management - Lead, mentor, and grow a team of embedded software and firmware engineers.
- Coordinate project schedules, priorities, and resource allocation.
- Conduct performance reviews, skill development plans, and hiring as needed.
- Establish relations and collaborate with Advantest R&D centers
Technical Ownership - Define and oversee the software architecture for ATE embedded platforms.
- Drive best engineering practices (CI/CD, code quality, documentation, version control, testing strategies).
- Ensure reliability, maintainability, and scalability of embedded solutions.
Hands-on Development - Contribute to embedded software design and implementation in C/C++.
- Oversee development of low-level firmware including device drivers, RTOS components, and communication stacks.
- Support integration of microcontrollers, SoCs, FPGAs, and custom hardware platforms.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with hardware, systems, and application teams to define HW/SW interfaces.
- Lead system-level design reviews and participate in architectural decision-making.
- Support root-cause analysis and debugging of complex hardware/software issues using lab instrumentation.
Documentation & Processes - Ensure proper documentation of designs, interfaces, development guidelines, and technical decisions.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and standardization of software development workflows.
Required Qualifications: - Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electronic Engineering, Embedded Systems, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
- 10+ years of experience in embedded software/firmware development in C/C++.
- Proven experience with microcontrollers, SoCs, and/or FPGA-based embedded systems.
- Solid understanding of RTOS, multithreaded development, and real-time constraints.
- Familiarity with lab debugging tools (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc.).
- Experience working with schematics, datasheets, and close collaboration with hardware teams.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Good English knowledge (B1+).
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience with technical leadership or engineering team management.
- Knowledge of:
STM32 platforms (e.g., H7 dual-core) STM32CubeIDE EtherCAT Eclipse Zenoh Embedded Linux, YOCTO, FreeRTOS FPGA interfacing or VHDL-based development - Experience in quality-driven or certified environments (industrial, aerospace, medical, automotive, etc.).
